This special edition 70cl Scuttled Gin from Deerness Distillery on Orkney, has been created to mark the centenary of the scuttling of the WWI German High Seas Fleet in Scapa Flow on 21st June 1919.
Tasting notes
Scuttled Gin is Juniper led, followed by a spicy lemon cassia bark with peppery middle notes and a smooth lavender mint finish to cleanse the palate.
Botanicals
Juniper, tarragon, cassia bark, lemon peel, chamomile flower heads, green pepper, lavender and mint.
Perfect Serve
Straight on the rocks for the gin enthusiast, or a good measure of Scuttled Gin and ice with the following options:
Premium natural tonic water with a slice of orange, lemon or lime.
Elderflower tonic water, garnished with lemon or lime to bring out the pepper and lemon.
For the adventurous try some pink peppercorns, or a few thin slices of green chilli to bring out the cassia bark spice!

Since Ullapool was founded as a fishing station in 1788, fishermen have navigated their fair share of high sea peaks and troughs, and more than 200 years later they are still going strong. In a celebration of all fishermen – past, present and future, a handcrafted Fisherman’s Strength Gin.
Nose: A powerful nose (as you might expect for a navy strength gin) but definitely juniper led with forest floor notes coming through with ripe blueberry, cracked black pepper, pink pepper and a touch of spicy coriander.
Palate: Assertive (again as you would expect of a higher ABV gin), although once you have grown accustomed to the alcohol, the juniper on the nose presents itself nicely on the palate. Opulent blue and black fruits and baked apple at first with pink pepper coming through, along with coriander which manifests itself particularly on the long lasting, elegant finish.
Palate With Tonic: Use a good neutral tonic. Juniper is prominent yet well-proportioned so it doesn’t clash with the tonic. The pronounced coriander note allows the gin to mix well with the tonic. Pink pepper notes bring a lift to the drink. Overall the flavours are balanced with a long satisfying finish.
The Perfect Serve: Serve in a straight glass with lots of ice, a good quality tonic (1 part gin to 2 parts tonic) and garnished with a slice or twist of orange or mix the perfect martini.

Blended from a small number of carefully selected casks from the Highlands of Scotland and inspired by the distillery’s unique location, Shetland Reel introduce their newest blended malt whisky. Unlike previous releases, this special edition is bottled at 40%. Each of the malt whiskies used in this edition are at least 5 or 6 years old. The fresh sherry and bourbon casks each have influenced this whisky, with caramel, buttery notes and dried fruits coming through, none of which dominate the flavour. One the nose, this batch has notes of boiled fruit sweets, think pineapple cubes. The palate also has flavours of toffee, fruit sweets and black pepper, leading to a “long, sweet finish with some pepper.”
